Financially Frustrated…

It seems as though the harder I work to unbury my finances, the more is heaped.

Our higher mortgage payment is depressing. I struggle to not scream in frustration every time I transfer the extra $150 a month to our mortgage account. Perhaps if I was paying more on my principle I’d be fine but $150 more for the government? I’m ready to throw my own Boston Tea Party. Too bad we’re in a drought and all our water sources have dried up. It’s kinda hard to have a tea party without water. Maybe I can have a Boston Sludge Party? A Boston Dust Party?

On speaking of water, thanks to the passing of water rate hikes for the second time this year, I’m considering showering with Von’s brand apple juice. It’s cheaper than water.

On top of the added taxes, my husband’s truck needs new tires. Nothing makes me despise his big truck more than the seemingly 97” tires it requires (In my husband’s defense, it must be noted that he worked nights and weekends for the last few weeks. He’s paying for his tires in cash and not taking a dime from our budget. He’s a fabulous guy).

Our backyard fence needs mending. The neighbors trimmed their tree and smashed our fence with the dropping branches. I’d like to demand they fix it but they dabble between heavy and ridiculously heavy drug usage and their only interest is in the status of their bong. If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s… don’t mess with people who have no regard for the law.

I’ll admit, it’s hard to not simply say, ‘Who cares? I’ll be in debt forever. Here’s my credit card. Put on the nicest tires and upgrade my fence to solid steel.’ But I have to keep looking at the bigger picture. I AM making progress. It’s slow, it’s painful, and it’s frustrating but I’m doing it.

I can’t say, ‘Don’t let the bills get you down’, because… they will. I CAN say, ‘Don’t give up. We’ll get there.’

Because you know what? We Will.

Live like no one else so one day you can live like no one else. Thanks Dave Ramsey:) Trust me I feel just like you. I got my budget done, implemented it then my husbands truck got totaled, the dishwasher broke and the washing machine broke. Hey, that’s three so I’m all done for the year, right?

Chin up.

You are doing one of the hardest things around – trying to save money and work your budget when entropy is swirling around you. And somehow that entropy swirl knows that you’re in money saving mode, so stuff happens…and happens…and happens.

When I was within $1000 of paying off my credit cards, it was a parade of sickness and breakdown. We did the best we could and tried to space the paying stuff down. One month it was the cat, the next a health issue of mine, then the car, then the washer, blah, blah.

Nicole – Washing machine broke? Really? No Bueno.

Shane – sometimes… the rotten part of me hopes he trudges through mud sometimes too. He’s one of the richest men! I’m jealous!

Baselle – Good to know I’m not alone!

Lizzie – Thanks!!
