Public Transportation Trouble…

As shocking as this is…

I’m used to public transportation. I actually… kinda like it. I like not driving. I like not sitting in traffic. I like not paying for gas. I like playing solitaire while listening to books on tape while my car sits peacefully in my driveway.

My friends don’t tease me about it (much)and they even ask if I’d like to be picked up a train stops.

But things have grown scary in the public transit world. Groups of men have started to throw large rocks at passing trains. The rocks shatter windows, break doors, and injure innocent passengers.

Yesterday, I caught my regular train. Had I been a few minutes late and needed to catch the next car, I would have been on the train targeted by these criminals.

Um. Is it sad that this doesn’t deter me from using public transportation? For a moment, I wondered if I should start making alternate plans. I came to my senses, laughed at the thought of the extra travel expense, and hopped on the train to work.

I can’t decide if I’m being fiscally prudent or physically moronic. Either way, I’m living below my means… and that’s where I want to be.

I’m surprised these guys can even hit the train. I mean they are the ones who are throwing rocks at trains because they have cut the amount trips they make. You know, throwing rocks at them is really going to help the situation improve;) Maybe those guys are dumb as rocks! Glad it hasn’t stopped you.

That’s great that you’ve eased into public transportation. I might be confusing you with another poster, but I seem to remember that you blogged about a certain trepidation over it. (or was it the trolley specifically?)
Well done about not being afraid.

Baselle – You are so right! Things have changed. I was TERRIFIED but I’ve grown to like it.
