The expense of friendship…
Friends are free right?
I have fabulous friends. Friends who understand phases like, ‘Sorry, no Christmas gift this year. Bank of America got it’ and ‘Can we please have our girl’s night out at Taco Bell? All I have in my ash tray is 76 cents.’
My friends are forgiving, understanding, loving, compassionate, and all around great… unfortunately, they found men who appreciate those qualities… who want to marry them. *cough* I meant to say FORTUNATELY. Um. Right?
I have been asked to take part in two weddings this year. But wait… there’s more!
My husband is in both weddings as well.
2 tux rentals + 2 dresses +2 bachelorette parties + 2 bachelor parties = Time to put in some extra hours at the office. My husband is working extra hours as well so we won’t fall behind but we won’t be gaining momentum like we had hoped. But I love my friends and I’m honored at the invitation.
As I handed over my debit card (since my credit cards went MIA after the finance class) I couldn’t help but think… ‘Why are dresses so darn expensive, why do alterations…. Wait a second… DEAR LORD! Did you write down the wrong size?!?!? A size 2??!? Was it a SPANDEX ruler?!?! Am I going to have to fold myself in HALF?!’
Sorry. I’m a girl. She told me I was a size 2 and suddenly the payment wasn’t quite so painful.
Wait a second… isn’t that how I got into this trouble in the first place?!?

Hehe. Even for a guy, I’ve found that friendship costs money.
However, when managed correctly, I think it’s worth it.

Thank goodness nobody wants me in their wedding. That’s good in that it saves me money and bad in that nobody likes me enough to be in their wedding;)

Definitely worth being in your friends’ weddings. Years from now the debts will be gone, and hopefully the friendships will still remain. Just keep a handle on the expenses like you are doing, but as Suze says, people first.

What a nice friend you are. I think I avoid those sort of relationships due to only being able to see $$ signs in my vision………jk.

Man, at least with the bridesmaid dresses you can just shorten them and wear them again! haha. Your friends appreciate it immensely!
