Benefits of healthy living…
I’ve been taking the stairs at work once or twice a day and have become increasingly frustrated at my inability to hike 10 flights without stopping to breathe like an asthmatic smoker with advanced stages of lung disease.
At first, I could only hike 4 flights before needing a break. Now I can hike 7 flights before making a 20 second stop to catch my breath. Maybe by the Christmas of 2030, I’ll be able to make it to the top without sounding like ‘Wheezy Joe’ from Intolerable Cruelty.
(Yes, I saw that movie. I love off humor and George Clooney. Sue me. Oh wait, someone already is! *snicker*. At least I can joke about it.)
Anyway, I was disappointed with my progress until…
The other day, I pulled out my first skirt of the season and turned around to, what else, check the status of my butt.
I’m a girl. We all do it. Don’t pretend you don’t.
I looked down and saw a black streak across the back of my calf. Angrily, I wiped at the black mark and realized… it wasn’t a mark… it was a shadow from…
Surprisingly…
My gi-normous calf muscle.
Where did that come from and where are the signups for Miss Muscle America?
The moral of the story?
TAKE THE STAIRS!
It’s 50 degrees outside and guess what I’m wearing to work today?

Stairs are GREAT for your legs! I’m glad you have been able to kick up your fitness, even if it wasn’t on purpose:)

You’re making me wish my job had stairs.
I’ll have to settle for hiking across the parking lot.
