Listening to the sage financial advice of my grandmother…

My grandmother has always told me to invest in well made items and to never buy things on the cheap because, in the end, they will be far more expensive.

Well…

I decided to color my hair.

I should just let the story end there but for my grandmother’s sake, I’ll finish.

As a holiday treat to myself, I decided to color my hair with a non-permanent color (it should wash out in 6 – 8 weeks). I didn’t want to invest the time or effort into a permanent color since the maintenance costs were too high.

When I stopped to see my grandma, she asked about the new hair color. I told her it was a wash-out color.

She made a face.

‘Won’t that get on your clothes? Will it smudge on stuff in your house?’ she asked.

‘Psh. No way grams. This stuff is awesome!’ I replied.

‘Hmm’ was her only response.

I mean really. What do grandmas know?!?

I went home and jumped in the shower to wash my hair for the first time and…

Wait. First, let me tell you about our shower.

Part of our debt stems from our remodeled master bathroom. We have a custom tiled shower, custom tiled floors, and a white shower pan.

Anyway, as I was washing my hair, I watched in terror as the deep auburn streaks (coincidentally identical to my new hair color) circled the drain. Before I could stop it, the red quickly covered the entire shower pan. I stared in shock, wondering if somehow I could disappear down the drain with it.

They say ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.’

HA!

I say, ‘Hell hath no fury like living with the contractor who lovingly installed the once white tub.’

Maybe I can convince him the color is actually a bleach resistant mold rather than cheap hair dye?

My hair still looks great. It almost matches the shade of my husbands face.

I’m off to scrub a shower. Tips grams?

Try hydrogen peroxide. Spray liberally and wait a few minutes.
